The Space between...

Daddy feeding baby
Staying cool in the stroller
Pretty baby
He likes his hood up!
This has been a great week! We are counting down until Friday when we go to Montgomery to visit Mae-Mae and Rae-Rae! ((I also have a baby shower for a really good friend of mine.)) York is as animated as ever! He is just too cute...if I do say so myself. Our friend Katie had her baby last Sunday and we are anxious to meet Miss Mary Thomas... York's first girlfriend!! Baby and Katie are doing just fine... thanks to your prayers.
We are now up to $715.00 for March of Dimes... I am amazed at the support that we have gotten. Thanks to everyone who has made a contribution! Above are some pictures of our sweet little man from this past week... he is growing way too FAST!
On another note... for those of you who don't know I am a HUGE Dave Matthews fan!! For my birthday my husband was going to get me tickets to the show here in April... I told him to hold off because we thought that York would be having his surgery the same month. After getting the AMAZING news that York would not need the surgery... I began "hinting" around about the "golden" tickets. Wesley told me that they were too expensive and we needed to save our money and go to the beach instead. So I agreed with him ... until last week!! I heard a million Dave songs on the radio and began frantically searching for some "cheaper tickets". I finally found some and called him into the kitchen to order them... WELL I ruined the surprise!! He had gotten tickets about 2 months ago in the lower level and was going to surprise me... I felt so bad! I have an amazing husband, healthy baby, wonderful friends and family... I am a LUCKY girl.
The space between the tears we cry is the laughter that keeps us coming back for more.

He's my BLUE eyed boy!

Weekend visit from Caroline (cousin) ... York is almost as big as her! How YOU doing?
York is smiling ALL the time!
He loves playing in his bouncy seat...
He will be 3 months old tomorrow!!
He likes to stick his tongue out...
Look at that big belly!
cutting up for the camera!
I am always taking the pics... I FINALLY have one of me and him!
Tomorrow my sweet baby will be 3 months old!! I really can't believe it... time goes by so quickly! I am trying to savor every little smile and coo! We have had lots of "Firsts" lately. York decided to roll over last week and has begun cooing and "talking" all the time. He talks to his animals and to strangers... anyone who will listen! It is adorable! His eyes are still as blue as the "bonnie blue flag" (quote from my favorite movie: Gone with the Wind)... the doc said that they will turn whatever color they will stay by 12 weeks! So I guess we will have a little blue eyed heart breaker! He is so flirting with every "GIRL" stranger we come in contact with. We were at the Galleria last week and a lady was talking to him and he was a complete HAM! Just smiling and cooing ... out of control! Wesley comes home in the afternoon, desperately trying to make him smile... and he is as serious as ever! I try not to tell him that he smiles at complete strangers... it might hurt is feelings! (York is simply a ladies man!)
Our effort to raise money for the March of Dimes is going really well. We have over $500.00 and we have only been at it for a little over a week! Thanks to everyone that has already given. It means so much to Wesley and I! You all are really amazing... we are truly lucky to have you all as friends. I will keep you all updated on how the campaign is going and also how big York is growing. Also keep our friend, Katie, in your prayers because she will be having her sweet baby soon! Pray for a smooth delivery and healthy baby. ((We love you Katie!))

March for Babies...

Memory of what this little guy went through...

On December 17, 2008, Wes and I were preparing for the birth of our first child... washing baby clothes, finishing the nursery, and preparing for the big day. Then our life changed forever with the early arrival of our little man. Wesley York Harless was born 6 weeks early weighing 4 lbs 11 ounces. ((A PREEMIE...what did I do wrong? I exercised, ate all of the right foods, and did everything the doctor told me to!)) Our joy and excitement was overshadowed by fear and worry that he may not survive.

He was admitted to the NICU for observation the night of his birth. Our miracle baby was able to breathe on his own, eat without the assistance of a feeding tube, and do both of these simultaneously. Unfortunately, he was unable to maintain his body temperature and was severely jaundice. He was put in an incubator with photo therapy. We spent our Christmas at the hospital visiting and thanking God that our baby was one of the healthier ones! Many of York's "incubator buddies" had been there for several months and were not making much progress... which broke my heart daily. You want so desperately to trade places with these innocent little lives. The reality is that babies are born each day needing the help of organizations like the March of Dimes. Thanks to modern medicine and a magnificent God, York overcame the odds. Our little man, was discharged on December 27, 2008 and has been getting stronger and healthier each day. York and I want to make it our mission to help parents that aren't quite so fortunate: the parents that are sitting in the NICU beside their child praying for one more day. One in SIX Alabama babies is born too soon and too small... with your support one day every baby will have a healthy fighting chance at life.

The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. I know that each of you have been directly or indirectly affected by one of these. A donation of just $5.00 goes a long way... we greatly appreciate your support of any kind. If you would like to make a pledge with credit/debit card go to:

or mail a check to me @ 1064 Dunnavant Place Birmingham, AL 35242

(checks payable to March of Dimes)

By the way... Wes and I apprecite all of the support that you all have given us since the birth of little York... We would have never made it without your love and most importantly your prayers.

Snow... blog worthy?

York slept through the great snow... He was not amused! Our home looked beautiful covered in white.
It really came down... our neighborhood kids had a blast!
This is out our back door... we had 3 inches on our table.
Our weather is just crazy... blistering hot in December and snowing in March! Nonetheless we enjoyed looking at the mysterious white stuff! I did not join in the snow activities... York and I snuggled in the bed all day. We had a fabulous Sunday! We also watched Fireproof... It is a must see! What a wonderful film... the message is so amazing and in my opinion a must see for ALL couples. I don't want to give away any part of the movie so all I will say is that it is worth the Netflix fee or rental fee!!
We had a pretty eventful weekend. Wesley's cousin (James) was married on Saturday and we spent most of the weekend attending Wedding Festivities. My mom and Rafe came up to keep York... they had a blast! ((Shug was also happy that Rae-Rae (Rafe) came because he finally got some attention.)) Friday was very hectic because our power was out most of the day due to the bad weather... Mom and Rafe got here around 5 and I had to be in the car at 5:30pm to make the rehearsal dinner. We cut it very CLOSE! All in all, we had a nice weekend and are glad that the snow is gone and it will be 75 degrees here on Saturday!! We are definitely ready for warm weather... I am sure you are too!
